Article Writing has New Publishing Networks Called Traffic Portals

Writing articles is one of the best known sources for driving traffic to websites that is generally known. Up until now, the only places they had for publication was on our own websites, our own blogs or as a guest blogger or to put them into an article directory for distribution and hopefully, a link back to our own website or blog.

This has worked well I hope for the good article directories because they have, and still are, providing a great distribution point for writers and anyone wanting content for their website or blog. Unfortunately, there have been some website and blog owners who haven't played fair and given the link back to the author or even to the article directory either. Thieves have been among us for some time but what gets really disappointing is that some of the cheating has been done by some very well known companies. Sure, one I found put my name to the paragraph and a half of my article with a link ~ back to the front page of their own website!

So for a while there I got a bit more than a bit upset, and spat the dummy, as we say here in Australia. Until I realised the only one being hurt was myself; so I picked up my dummy and started again. I know that this has happened to many, many others too and if you find it happening to you, try to do something about it or clear it from your mind. Don't spit the dummy and hurt yourself a second time.

Marketing via article writing has been called 'bum marketing' because it is a simple, effective way to get information out on the internet. Now it has evolved once again and a new publishing platform has been put in place for article writers to give article directories some real competition. Change is one of the constants in life.

Article directories will still serve as a very good 'library' and the better article directories I believe will continue with their loyal author followers simply because they have been helpful, looked after their authors and tried to incentivise them at every opportunity. The ones who have offered service to writers will still have potential for growth but those article directories who have been very 'slap-happy' will slowly dissolve into the cyber-sphere.

The new publishing platform for authors are membership sites that offer both extra publication exposure and quality back links in numbers instead of just offering one high ranking back link and a page in a directory after a few hours front page exposure. Some of these traffic portals (for want of a name for the process) offer back links from PR sites plus publication on “X” number of other blogs in the same category.

The major advantages for authors to use these article membership portals is huge due to the number of back links offered, the PR of the sites, the extra readership and traffic generation potential.

Traffic Portals (TP's) are the next obvious step in the growth of the internet and for all authors who care about where their quality content is published.

Now authors are getting more control of where their articles are published, a wider and linked network on which to showcase quality work and broader exposure from which to expand their readership.
